Betty Wexter, Class of 1952

Following graduation at Allen Memorial Hospital Lutheran School of Nursing in 1952, Betty worked as an RN in surgery at Allen. To further her education, she attended a four-month class at Bellevue Hospital in New York. Betty came back to the O.R. as supervisor, and also as an instructor of nursing until 1956, when she and husband Wendell started their family. She continued to work part-time until 1958 when she chose to be a stay-at-home mom until 1967. She then worked as an office nurse in an OB/GYN practice. She also taught pre and post-natal patients until her retirement in 1997. Betty is an active volunteer in the community, and was very involved with both the Allen Auxiliary board and Allen Alumni Association. She retired from being at volunteer at the hospital after 17 years of service in March of 2017.
