Dr. Nieman joined the Allen College faculty in 2015. She has had a wealth of nursing experience in a variety of areas at UnityPoint, Allen Hospital including  ICU, inpatient mental health, NICU, and home health, and at Grundy County Memorial Hospital in the Med-Surg unit. Her educational background includes an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from Hawkeye Community College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Kaplan University, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Walden University, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Allen College. Currently, she is pursuing a Psychiatric Mental Health ARNP certification at Allen College. Her teaching concentration is in critical care nursing and mission nursing in Guatemala.

Scholarship/Research: 
Dr. Nieman has provided several presentations about her work with students in Guatemala as part of a Mission Nursing course. Her DNP project focused on providing person-centered care in a rural, critical access hospital.

What do you enjoy most about teaching at Allen College?
I enjoy the flexibility that teaching has to offer, as well as the family-like atmosphere there is among my peers.
