Nuclear Medicine Technology Program Accredited

November 4, 2011

WATERLOO, Iowa --Allen College’s Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMT) program has achieved initial three-year accreditation, effective October 28, 2011, from the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT).  The JRCNMT is the only programmatic accrediting agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation to accredit nuclear medicine technologist educational programs in the territorial United States.  The JRCNMT, with input from communities of interest, defines the standards for nuclear medicine technologist educational programs. The agency then uses those standards to conduct peer-review evaluations of programs seeking accreditation to ensure compliance with the standards. Programs that meet or exceed the standards are granted an accreditation status by the JRCNMT, providing public recognition and a basic assurance of the scope and quality of the professional program.

Allen College’s NMT program, in its third year of operation, offers both a certificate and a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree option.  Students complete the 38 credit hour program on the Allen College campus and at eight clinical sites affiliated with the program.  Jared Seliger, B.S., M.B.A., C.N.M.T. pictured below, is the program director.
