Allen College Graduates Perform Well on Licensure and Certific

Graduates of Allen College’s programs in nursing and radiography continued to their record of high performance on licensure and certification examinations in 2008. Graduates of the College’s undergraduate nursing program who took the examination (NCLEX-RN) leading to registered nurse (RN) licensure passed the test on first attempt at a rate that exceeded state and national averages. According to Dr. Nancy Kramer, associate dean for the Division of Nursing, Allen nursing graduates who took this examination in 2008 passed the examination at a rate of 91.4% compared to Iowa’s average pass rate of 80.7% and a national pass rate of 86.7%. Dr. Kramer also reported that 100% of the College’s family nurse practitioner (FNP) graduates passed the national certification examination for FNPs. Dr. Peggy Fortsch, associate dean for the Division of Health Sciences, reported that 100% of Allen College’s graduates of the Associate of Science in Radiography (ASR) program also passed the certification examination offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
