Allen College Faculty Member is Awarded Doctorate

Allen College is pleased to announce that Ruselle DeBonis has completed requirements for the doctor of nursing practice (DNP) degree from the University of Iowa. Ruselle is the first Allen College faculty member to earn the DNP.

She joined the faculty of Allen College in August 2006 as Assistant Professor in the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program. In 2008 Dr. DeBonis, a family nurse practitioner, spearheaded establishment of the ACE-SAP clinic, a collaborative venture between Allen College and the Salvation Army providing free health assessments and preventive care to Salvation Army clients. She supervises Allen College graduate nursing students at the clinic.

Dr. DeBonis previously earned the B.S.N. from the University of Iowa; the M.A. in Community Health Education from the University of Northern Iowa; and the M.S.N. with a Family Nurse Practitioner Focus from Allen College.
