Allen College Videostreams December Commencement

WATERLOO, Iowa — When Allen College conducted its December 14,  2012, commencement ceremony at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, Iowa,  distant family and friends  were able for the first time to see the ceremony in real time from their computers via a live video stream. According to Allen College Chancellor Dr. Jerry Durham, the College will broadcast future commencement ceremonies via live video stream. Arrangements for the live video stream broadcast were made by the College’s instructional designer, Seth Vickers, and instructional technology specialist David Wu. The commencement speaker was Mark Baldwin, chair of the Allen College Board of Trustees and a member of the Allen Health System and Iowa Health System Boards. Mr.  Baldwin has been a member of the Board of Trustees for 13 years and served as chair from 2002 through 2012. Mr. Baldwin holds a B.S. in Mathematics from the U.S. Air Force Academy, an M.S. in Engineering from UCLA, and an MBA from the University of Northern Iowa.

The College conferred 33 Bachelor of Science of Nursing and 8 Master of Science in Nursing degrees at the ceremony.
