The Accelerated Option of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program is designed to facilitate career change and degree completion effectively and efficiently. It offers all required nursing coursework over four semesters of intensive study including summer(s).  Students will be admitted to Allen College for the summer or fall.  Graduates are excellent nurses who are strong in theoretical knowledge and clinical skills. All courses are taught on the Allen College Campus in Waterloo, Iowa.

Students must complete a minimum of 124 semester hours of coursework to earn the degree Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Students must complete a minimum of 66 semester hours of general education coursework as outlined in the plan of study, including a minimum of:

  • 15 hours in the humanities
  • 15 hours in the social sciences
  • 18 hours in the natural sciences and mathematics
  • 18 hours of general electives (including a 3 credit diversity course).

 Students attend other regionally accredited colleges and universities to complete the general education component of the plan of study. Students admitted to the Accelerated Option from Wartburg College, Central College and Loras College may also earn a baccalaureate degree from the institution from which they are transferring as well as from Allen College.

Students are required to complete a minimum of 58 semester hours of nursing coursework. Applicants are encouraged to consult an academic advisor at Allen College prior to enrollment ensuring coursework meets the requirements.
