The Diagnostic Medical Sonography program begins once each year in the fall. Applications will not be considered until all required materials are received. Review of complete applicant files begins the previous September.
Allen College uses a holistic admission review. The process balances academic achievement, work experience, extra-curricular involvement, leadership, community service, diversity, as well as, other applicable life experiences.
Bachelor of Health Sciences Degree:
- Submit official transcripts from all colleges attended.
- Have earned a minimum of 25 semester hours of college credit.
- Have, at a minimum, a cumulative 2.7 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) in the following courses:
English Composition* Oral Communication* Sociology Psychology Anatomy & Physiology I* Anatomy & Physiology II* Physics* Algebra or higher math course*
*Denotes courses that are considered in the grade point average of students holding a Baccalaureate degree. All transferable courses must be completed with a grade of C- or above.
4. Submit a written reference. 5. Submit signed Essential Functions form. 6. Submit Job Shadow Experience form.
Certificate-Only Option:
To be considered for admission to the DMS certificate-only option, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree, associate's degree in a two-year allied health program with direct patient care, or certificate in a two-year allied health program direct patient care.
- Submit official transcripts from all colleges attended.
- Complete a minimum of 25 semester hours of college credit to be considered for admission.
- Students will only be considered for admission for the upcoming academic year and will not be admitted for a start date beyond the upcoming year.
- Have, at a minimum, a cumulative 2.7 GPS (on a 4.0 scale) in the following courses:
English Comp Oral Communication A & P I A & P II Physics Algebra or higher All transferable courses must be completed with a grade of C- or above.

Admission is competitive. Completion of these minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.
