Video: The Radiography Program The two-year Radiography program at Allen College is a highly-respected program developing the skills and competencies necessary for entry level radiographer positions. Radiographers use knowledge of science, human anatomy, and physiology to create medical images. Hospitals, imaging facilities, urgent care clinics, private physicians' offices, and other health care facilities provide employment opportunities. The Allen College Radiography program provides many hands-on clinical experiences allowing practical application of knowledge. Allen College graduates are fully prepared for a professional career. Allen College considers admitting applicants living out of state or country. Applicants and current students must be aware select states require approval prior to Allen College offering online courses and clinical study in those states. Additionally, a state certification or governing licensing board may also require prior approval for an Allen College student to engage in clinical study within the state. Therefore, Allen College cannot guarantee out-of- state clinical or practicum placement. Allen College also cannot guarantee students maintaining residency in a state other than Iowa will be allowed to enroll in online courses. Applicants planning to maintain residency in any state other than Iowa, and planning to enroll in an online course or engage in clinical study in any state other than Iowa, should consult an admission counselor prior to applying to Allen College. A degree granting program fosters continued education. The Radiography program begins once each year in the summer. Review of complete applicant files begins the previous September.
Your credits from a certificate or associates degree in radiography can transfer to a Bachelors degree in Health Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Nuclear Medicine Technology! Request a degree audit to find out how your credits may transfer. Earn an Associate’s Degree in Radiology, a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences and the ability to be certified in two imaging modalities! Students can choose between Nuclear Medicine Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography for the Bachelor’s of Health Sciences degree. Below are sample curriculum plans for each option.
