Eligibility Criteria:

  1. This scholarship is presented annually to a Sigma Theta Tau member pursuing a nursing career in a graduate or undergraduate program (no member of the Awards, Research, and Scholarship Committee or Chapter Board of Directors is eligible for funding while in office).
  2. The scholarship criteria will include quality of written goals and contribution or potential contribution to nursing and public benefit.
  3. The recipient must be a current student in good academic standing.

Application Process

  1. Complete a Sigma Theta Tau Chapter Scholarship Application that may be obtained in the financial aid office at Allen College or online.
  2. Attachments should include:
    1. Letter of recommendation from two faculty and one professional associate
    2. Transcript of undergraduate records (and graduate work) completed
    3. Curriculum Vitae or Resume
    4. Written statement of personal and professional goals in nursing.
  3. The completed application and attachments must be received in the Allen College Office by May 31st.

All applications shall be forwarded to the Pi Kappa Chapter President.

Selection Process:

  1. A Scholarship Committee comprised of three appointed chapter members who have experience in nursing education.  It is recommended that one member hold an earned doctorate if graduate students are considered.  One chapter officer should be designated as ex-officio (ordinarily the Treasurer).
  2. The scholarship recipient will be announced by Sigma Theta Tau International Pi Kappa Chapter 392 at Allen College.
  3. The scholarship will be awarded annually for $500.
  4. A certificate of honor will be presented to the recipient at the Allen College scholarship banquet.
  5. A transfer of scholarship funds to the recipient’s account will be made prior to the start of classes.
