A master’s degree with a major in nursing from a school accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting organization;

A minimum graduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.25 on a 4.00 scale;

Evidence of scholarly writing by a: submission of a graduate project or thesis in a master’s degree program OR b: submission of a scholarly paper written for a graduate level course;

Provide evidence of national certification, if applicable;

Current, active, and unencumbered nursing license;

Completion of a course in statistics;
- Completion of 600 contact hours of clinical experience in the master’s program. (The college reserves the right to evaluate applicants with less than 600 contact hours of clinical experience in the master’s program. If an applicant has less than 600 and is selected for admission the additional hours to total 1000 will be included in the plan of study). Graduates from advanced practice programs other than Allen College must provide verification on clinical hours from the director of their NP program;

Copy of current resume or curriculum vitae, including work experience, educational, leadership and professional organization activities, and scholarly activities including publications, presentations, research, honors, and awards;

A statement of personal and professional goals:
In a maximum of two typed, double-spaced pages, prepare a personal essay that demonstrates advanced written communication skills and clarifies your purpose in pursuing a DNP. Handwritten essays will not be accepted. Please respond to the following questions:
- Describe your clinical and leadership experience
- Describe your goals and objectives for professional growth through enrollment in and completion of the DNP program
- Describe your intended clinical focus for doctoral study
- Describe your vision for quality improvement in this area and identify resources available to accomplish this goal
- Describe how your goals and objectives for professional growth reflect the aims of Allen College’s DNP program
10. Applicants whose first language is not English must provide one form of English Proficiency. 11. Copy of current CPR certification card. 12. An interview may be required. 13. Submit a signed Essential Functions form 14. Submit three professional or academic letters of reference.
